This article briefs on the Transportation Add-on functionality's such as:
1. Consist Management
In the rail industry, a group of assets (cars, locomotives, etc.) that are coupled together to form a train are often referred to as a Consist. The process of assembling a collection of individual assets into a train set or consist is referred to Consist Management.
2. Telematics
We use telecommunications and informatics [telematics] for Capturing meter readings via a telematics import. It provides timely and accurate readings. Readings can be captured at a set interval without the possibility of human error. No waiting for the asset to arrive at a repair facility to capture readings and no relying on the operator or users to provide current readings.
3. Asset and Item Warranties
Most new, rebuilt, or re-manufactured assets will carry some level of warranty against defects or failures.
Significant savings can be realized by maximizing the benefits of these warranties by either recovering costs your organization has incurred performing warranty repairs or by avoiding incurring the costs by having the vendor or manufacturer perform the repair.
4. Perform Maintenance
Maximo for Transportation’s Maintenance Alert feature helps to identify these opportunities to perform as much work as possible while you have the asset down.
5. Best practices when using Transportation and Asset Configuration Manager together
